Murder Incarnation can be read on Crunchyroll, but only if you are a premium subscriber. But that's not a bad thing, as I've seen hard copies of the book go up to $3,000 in price.

A mysterious school girl with flowing, pink pigtails approaches you. She smiles, offers to dry your tears, and then makes a proposition.

"I can bring back that person you love from the dead. But in order for that to happen, you need to kill three people within 24 hours. Can you do it? Any three, but you have to keep it a secret, OKAY let's go!"

And so begins Murder Incarnation, an eerie black and white noir, done with CGI  models. The 10-chapter series flits past one gory killing after another, but has a slightly moral tone here and there.

For example, in Chapter Five, after a high school teacher has killed three people to bring back his recently cremated wife, the wife discovers he's been sleeping with an underage girl. He kills her, not realizing that she's not only uploaded the video of her murder to YouTube, she's also sent it to each and every one of his students, making sure that justice is served and he does his time from beyond the grave.

Another story involves a mother, who wants to bring back her drowned son as soon as possible. Unable to make her third killing, her father nods and instructs her to help him die, so that his grandson will live. When her son does come back, he has three moles on the gape of his neck.

All of the resurrected have the same three moles.

........ As does the mother...

In all ten chapters, we see the killings take place in a manner in which the characters must contemplate the worth of the kill and who really needs to go. All the while, the pink-pigtailed angel of death watches from afar, but is quick to clean up the bodies and the mess, so that the protagonist of each tale doesn't get caught.

It's dark, cerebral, but is written in such a way that keeps you coming back for more.
